Together with the curators, we created numerous illustrations, visuals and infographics that explore the human, animal and plant world of the Marchfeld and offer an immersive look at how the region has changed. Using color and a geometric grid that echoes the architecture, the rooms evolve from untouched nature into an industrial landscape over time.

The exhibition opens with powerful, vibrant greens that celebrate the thriving natural environment. As human influence grows, the color system shifts to create a sense of urgency and guide visitors through key moments in history. During the wars against Napoleon, for example, the Marchfeld became a place of death and destruction, reflected in a dark, dense and somber architectural concept. At the same time, Austria was a wealthy, powerful monarchy ruled by the Habsburgs, so a royal blue sets a contrast and embodies the region’s imperial splendor.

The architecture follows the curatorial storyline, moving from the untamed, organic flow of pristine nature to the rigid, geometric interventions of humankind. Along with a wide range of original historical objects, this interplay between content and form tells a vivid story from start to finish.
