There’s something special about having dinner under the open sky, even in the middle of Manhattan. Altair is a new American restaurant at Arlo Midtown, with a wide glass ceiling that lets guests look up at the stars over their meal. It’s a place for hotel guests and New Yorkers alike to gather, eat well and let their imagination wander a little. With all that in mind, it was important to create a visual identity that captured that sense of celestial wonder and brought the whole space together.

The system is built around the four classic elements of earth, fire, water and air, which also shape how the food and cocktail menus are organized. Refined illustrations, a dotted line motif and a warm color palette make the brand feel cozy and inviting, a natural fit for the interior. Sharper lines and pops of lime green add energy, so the experience stays fresh and easy to remember, and the identity carries from menus to aprons and even corkscrews.
The signage does the important job of tying everything together, guiding guests from the spacious bar at the front of the hotel back to the skylit dining room. Combined with the menu itself, the design helps make Altair a real destination, not only for people staying at the hotel but for New York’s wider food scene.
